Does God deserve our worship after what he done to Job?

If you are familiar with the story of Job this question is for you. After i read how God sadistically ruined this mans life just to prove a point i was left shocked and questioning my previous religion (now atheist). A decent person would never act in this way and i think it proves that Gods true religion may have been infiltrated by Satan's minions and now the masses are worshiping satan unknowingly?
