Will this be a defining moment for Irish politics and the European union ?

Ok ..so the forerunner in the 2011 presidential elections is a gay man (David Norris). He is ranked as the most likely to win the elections with 50% more people likely to vote for him than his nearest rival ! If a gay man is elected president in Ireland ..I know we aren't that powerful a country will we see a change a European plotics maybe the whole western works view on gays ??ps I'm not gay and can't yet vote but strongly support david Norris.
