Would you prefer the voters were better positioned to make some of the political decisions?

As a republic, we are supposedly electing people that represent us. These politicians talk a good game to get elected then make decisions based on campaign contributions. I'd like to vote on some of these topics and I'd like to see the consensus of the disposition based on the composite of voter support.
