Can someone explain this to me?

If John, Mark, Matthew and Luke appeared on Earth as spirits and started saying " There is no God, we played you all, there is nothing but blackness once you rest" Christians would start to believe that They were Satan's minions in disguise or something, placed there to lure them away from their faith. Why is this? Where does all this denial come from?
