How do I set up Eclipse to compile and run my C++ programs?

I am currently use Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 Professional for writing C++ programs for school. I am trying to use Eclipse in Win7 64 and cannot get my programs to compile or make. I just keep getting the error message "Launch Failed: binary not found" and "unresolve inclusion: " I downloaded and installed MinGW but apparently don't have Eclipse set up properly. The Eclipse web site is horrible for help, especially if you are just starting out. Can anyone point me somewhere helpful for setting up Eclipse to work? I've run out of google search ideas. I'm beginning to think I aught to just acquiesce and become a Microsoft Minion.... :(
