Why do Republicans pick only the parts they like out of the Constitution to support?

At the Republican debate televised on CNN, did you see Herman Cain say that people born in America shouldn't be considered Americans, yet in the Constitution that they are (unless it conflicts with the laws of where their parents are from, concerning birth and citizenship)? Clueless GOP minions...
